Did Shawn Michaels know about the Montreal screw job?
Well first of all, As you can see through the match that HBK didn't have a clue about the screw job. It was Hart's last match in his hometown of Montreal, and he didn't want to drop the belt to Michaels because of the way HBK treated Bret. Therefore there was an agreement that HBK would have put Hart in a Sharpshooter when the ref was down and Bret would have countered it. Then HBK would have tapped out while the ref was still down. Then Hart would try and revive the ref but when he turns around he would get hit with Sweet Chin Music. An then a couple of minutes of brawling and then run-ins by DX and Hart Foundation would result the match in a DQ. However, at Survivor Series McMahon wanted to end the match when Michaels would apply the Sharpshooter making it look like Bret tapped. So The match kicks of and this is what actually happened. HHH kind of new about it but Michaels reaction to the entire thing just shows he never knew a thing. However, in a bio of HBK he said he knew but personally he didn't because knowone wanted to get to close to Bret because he would have knocked them out like he did to Vince. Answering the question, Shawn Michaels never knew anything about Montreal Screw Job. And if he does say he knew, then it is part of the Storyline.

the story is quite simple. you see Eric bishoff the wcw general manager at the time wanted Bret to join wcw as part of a heel group called the NWO. vince was afraid that Bret would take the WWF championship with him but i have recently read brets biography at wikipedia.com at it says Bret told vince backstage '' vince don't worry I WILL NOT be taking the wwf title to wcw even though Eric keeps saying i should, i kust wanna with here tonight in Montreal because this is my home country and i will lose the next night on raw before i leave'' Bret was obviously gonna leave to wcw no matter what. vince however just for some strange reason he refused to believe Bret so he made this stupid and sad plan to screw Bret without Bret finding out the details he spoke privately to HBK and asked him to screw Bret by putting him in sharp shooter thus earl the ref would ring the bell though Bret never tapped. i believe that hbk did not wanna screw Bret but instead vince munipulated hbk with threat of firing him
