They never cut holes in the bottom of peach baskets. Every time a shot was amde they had to climb a ladder and get the ball down. They had to continue to do this until rims were created.

How do you cut peaches into segments?

Hi First of all peaches don't have segments. Citrus fruit such as oranges and grapefruits do. Anyway...First take a paring knife - that is the small (roughly 1.5 inch blade) and cut the peach in half. Grasp each half of the peach gently and turn in opposite directions - this should free the stone from one half of the peach. Set this half aside. Then, to remove the stone - BE CAREFUL - set the half still attached to the stone on a counter and strike the stone with your paring knife. Hold the peach in your palm and rotate the knife. The stone should now be easily removed. You can now proceed slicing each half of the peach. Place the peach with with the end that was attached to the stem facing away from you. You should begin slicing the peach at an angle which should reach 90 degrees once you get to the top of the peach continue slicing evenly to form uniform pieces. Hope this helps you! Sorry if I was too specific - I went to the Culinary Institute of America and...Food is my thing! Best Wishes and Happy Peach Slicing!

What do peach seeds smell like?

I do not recommend this, but the MSDS for acrylonitrile (starting material to make "acrylic" fibers and paints) states the odor resembles "mild peach kernels (slight)". It would be safer to buy a peach, eat it, wash off and dry out the kernel, cut it open, and take a wiff. Acrylonitrile is VERY bad for you. Source: I'm a chemist

How did they use peach baskets in basketball?

If by "they" you mean James Naismith and a group of boys at a YMCA in Springfield, Mass. then "they" would have to go upstairs to the balcony where the hoop was attached and take the ball down. Later they would have to send somebody up with a ladder every time a basket was scored. Then eventually they decided, "Hey, you know what? We should cut a hole in the bottom of the basket so we don't have to go up and get it every time we score!!!!"
