The winningest runner in the Comrades was Bruce Fordyce, who won the race 9 times between 1981-1990. His winning times were between 5:24 and 5:34 for the down run and 5:27 to 5:40 for the up run. His 5:24:07 record time in the 1986 down run was bettered this year (2007) by Leonid Shvetsov of Russia.
