At most schools that have helmet stickers, they are rewards for good plays and they are only awarded after the team wins. At the University of Georga, black bones are rewarded for good academic performance; white bones are rewarded for good plays and performance criteria met (see link). Ohio State has a rather elaborate formula for awarding Buckeye stickers (see link). Florida State apparently has a point system for awarding red tomahawks. Apparently, players can loose tomahawks already awarded.
