The Phillies first African American player was infielder John Kennedy whose first game with the team was April 22, 1957. I have no idea when he was signed. Kennedy's MLB career lasted 5 games. He had previous played in the Negro Leagues with the Birmingham Black Barons and Kansas City Monarchs.

How many times must this question be answered. Jackie Robinson was the first African American in the modern era to play Major League Baseball when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers to start the 1947 season.
Jackie Robinson played for the Negro League, but on April 15, 1947, was called to play in the big leagues, making him the first black big league baseball player.
I don't know who the first black lacrosse player was. I have read that Rutgers had a black player a in the 1940s, but I have no further information. The first black lacrosse player who rose to prominence was Jim Brown, a 2x All-American middie from Syracuse who graduated in 1957. Brown, from Manhasset NY, subsequently played professional football & acted in movies. === ===
If you mean Moses Walker, the last black player in the majors before Jackie Robinson, he played in the American Association.
Moses Fleetwood Walker played on an major league integrated team, the Toledo Blue Stockings of the American Association, in 1884. Over the next few years, about a dozen blacks played minor league ball. An ban on such players -- sometimes unofficial, sometimes explicit -- began about 1890. Professional teams, and later professional leagues, consisting solely of blacks began soon afterwards. The first black baseball player in MLB after that was Jackie Robinson, in 1947.
