The legendary Jackie Robinson made the MLB debut for all African American's on April 15, 1947 at second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson went on to win the MLB Rookie of the Year Award, NL MVP in 1949, be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962, and be in the only player to have their number (42) retired by all major league teams.
