∙ 12y agoNigeria qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 1994. The first round of the tournament proper saw them finish top of their group, with two wins and one defeat from three matches. They won their first game of the tournament 3 - 0 against Bulgaria, with the first goal of the match being scored by Rashidi Yekeni, most notable for his spell at Vitória Setubal.

∙ 13y agoI think you mean the World Cup 1998, held in France. The opening goal was scored by Cesar Sampaio of Brazil from a corner, against Scotland in the opening match. Brazil won the game 2-1. John Collins equalised for Scotland from the spot but Tommy Boyd scored an own goal to hand the defending champions the win.
