In 1968, while playing for the University of Southern California Simpson earned the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Award.
That was O.J. Simpson (1968 Heisman winner) and Roger Staubach (1963 Heisman winner) who were both elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985. Since then, six other Heisman winners have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame ... Paul Hornung, Doak Walker, Earl Campbell, Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, and Barry Sanders. For the upcoming 2010 elections to the Hall, Tim Brown is the only Heisman winner on the list of electees.
In 1968, Chuck Hixson of SMU won the Sammy Baugh Trophy.

He started at quarterback for Ole Miss as a sophomore in 1968. As a junior in 1969, he finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting. As a senior in 1970, he finished third in the Heisman voting, despite being sidelined for part of the season with a broken arm.
