Monk 'Don' Meineke was the first player ever to win the NBA Rookie of the year award; winning it for the 1952-53 NBA season. During his first season in the league, while playing with the Fort Waine Pistons, Meineke averaged 10.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG and 2.2 APG in 33.1 MPG.
