Did chistopher Columbus find want he set sail for?

Yes and mostly no. He thought the world was round and he could get to India faster by sailing East instead of West. People had known they could get to India by sailing West, nobody had tried to get to India by sailing East. Columbus did show that you could get somewhere by sailing East. He did not reach India of course, he only got as far as the Caribbean Sea. He did not really find a shorter route to India, so Columbus did not find what he was really looking for.

How did the Mesopotamain law relate to Hagar and Ishmael in regards to his being Abraham's son?

Archaeological scholars have confirmed that under Mesopotamain law it was culturally accepted and normal for an already-married man to take a maid or slave in addition to his current wife. This 2nd woman was legally regarded as that man's wife, and so Ishmael would have been regarded as Abraham's eldest son. However, the Book of Jasher reveals that Ishmael was evicted and "sent away with great possessions" because he had tried to kill Abraham's younger son Jacob. Just as Israel's eldest son Reuben lost his birthright because he "...had sexual relations with Bilhah, his father's concubine ..."[Genesis 37:22 NET Bible], it's also safe to say that by this attempted murder Ishmael also forfeited his birthright, thus making Jacob the legal son and heir according to Mesopotamian law.
