Many people have sailed in a yacht around the world. The youngest was Robin Lee Graham, who sailed around the world in a sailboat at the age of 16. He took 5 years sailing around the world and even found and married his wife while on the trip. I believe he started his trip in 1968 and ended in 1973. If you are looking for non-stop sailing, there are races for solo non-stop circumnavigation. Circumnavigation is the sailor's term for "around the world". The first man to complete a solo circumnavigation was Joshua Slocum in 1898. There's even a Joshua Slocum Society for sailors who sail around the world.
