The Cowboys' season ended when they lost to the Washington Redskins in the NFC Championship Game 31-17, while Washington went on to beat the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII.
Dorsett's 99-yard run is still the NFL record, and while it could be tied, no player will ever top it, because the longest possible play from scrimmage is 99 yards.
