Currently, no Toronto Maple Leaf was born in Toronto but several in the organization grew up in and around the area. Mike Zigomanis was born in North York, now a part of Toronto. Tim Brent grew up in Maple, now a part of the Toronto suburb of Vaughan. Luca Caputi was born and grew in up in Toronto.

There are a few U.S sports played in Canada. The Toronto Raptors are the only NBA team stationed out in Canada. In the MLB the Toronto Blue Jays are the only MLB team stationed in Canada. And in hockey they have the Montreal Canadians as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs.
As far as I know the 1942 Toronto maple leafs are the only team to do so.

The player was goaltender Frank McCool, who played only 72 games for Toronto Maple Leafs from 1944-1946. Despite his talent and his name, Frank was anything but "McCool". His nervousness at playing goal in the NHL gave him such severe ulcers he had to leave the game after only two seasons.
