In my opinion Yes. He has won the most number of races (71) for any driver and also holds the record for most number of driver's championships (7) which statistically makes him the best formula one driver till date.
Nigel Mainsell won 31 races, and was champion in 1992
Lewis Hamilton will most likely remain a Formula one driver for 2013.
