1950's: Bob Pettit, Frank Selvy, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Bill Russell (Chamberlain played in only 48 college games), Darrell Floyd, Don Schlundt. 1960's: Pete Maravich, Lew Alcindor, Jerry Lucas, Calvin Murphy, Rick Mount, Tom Stith, Chet Walker, Nick Werkman, Elvin Hayes. (to be continued).

He doesn't seem to show up on any of the current lists of greatest college players ever. But he should be in everybody's top 5. His story is the most fascinating and most incredible in the history of the college game. His accomplishments were phenomenal. Who was he?

Imo, the best college player of all time was Pete Maravich. He averaged 44.2 points per game throughout his 4 years at LSU, and that was before the 3 point shot. It is estimated he would have averaged 50 points per game if the 3 point rule had been in effect. There are many great college players including Bill Russell, Bill Walton, Oscar Robertson, Lew Alcindor, David Thompson, Dan Issel, and others, but no college player was better than Pistol Pete.
