The #3 seed is usually placed in the top half of the #2 seed's draw, so that they will meet in the semi-finals, while the #4 seed is usually placed in the bottom half of the #1 seed's draw, so that they will meet in the semi-finals. Of course, this rarely works out as planned, since seeds may be defeated by lower-seeded/ranked players.
