After a buddy and I did some research earlier tonight...Last white 1,000 yard rusher was Craig James of New England. In 1985, he rushed for 1227 yards, but did not lead the league. We thought perhaps Riggins, Csonka or Van Eeghan might have been the last white RB to lead the league, but nope. It goes to Dickie Post, who led the AFL in 1969 with 873 yards, and played for the Chargers.
Former Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith never rushed for 1000 yards in a season. In his best season, 2008 his rookie year, Smith ran for 976 yards.
Larry Csonka (1117 yards) and Eugene "Mercury" Morris (1000 yards) of the Miami Dolphins, in 1972. Since then, that has been accomplished three times: 1) Franco Harris (1128 yards) and Rocky Bleier (1036 yards) of the 1976 Steelers. 2) Kevin Mack (1104 yards) and Earnest Byner (1002 yards) of the 1985 Cleveland Browns. 3) Derrick Ward (1025 yards) and Brandon Jacobs (1089 yards) of the 2008 New York Giants.
The Caucasian with the most rushing yards is John Riggins with 11,352 yards 16th on the all time list. He played from 1971-1985 with the New York Jets and Washington Redskins.
The Raiders last 1,000 yard WR was Randy Moss back in 2005. Moss had 1,005 yards that season!
