Former Major League Baseball player and beloved, longtime Atlanta Braves coach. He played ten years in the majors with the Braves, Reds, Mets, Astros, and Cardinals. He went on to a career in coaching and managing in the Braves organization and was influential in the development of many Atlanta Braves players. He joined the Big League team in 1991 as Bobby Cox's bench coach and held that position for 9 years. He was a part of the 1995 World Championship team. He most recently was manager of field operations for the Brave's minor league system. He passed away Christmas 2007 which was his fiftieth year in professional baseball. The Atlanta Braves are wearing a "Beach" patch on their left jersey sleeves for the 2008 season in his honor. He was a loving father of five, grandfather of six, and husband of thirty years to wife Pam. He is dearly missed by many.
