There were many mathematicians tens of thousands of years before that. Indeed, Euclid, who is considered the father of geometry, lived in the 3rd Century BC - so 600 hundred years earlier! And he was a latecomer.

In fact, the answer is likely to be quite possibly, the first humanoid who figured that he and his friends outnumbered their opponents and so it was time to beat them up and steal their food/furs/womenfolk - (or conversely, and it was time to run). Or the first woman who figured that geting hitched to a man in a big group was a better bet than one in a smaller group. Bigger and smaller are mathematical concepts.
