The expression "a hole in one" came from, on a golf course, when someone would take only one shot to get it into the hole.
In the 1967 Tony Jacklin had a hole in one, live on BBC's Grandstand. The first hole in one on live british television.

You can pour most fluids with only one hole, but flow will be intermittent as air flows back up the exit hole to break the vacuum that is stopping flow of the fluid.
