concept started in 1823 when wlliam web ellis a student at Rugby School Warwickshire England was playing football (soccer) picked up the ball and instead of retiring toward his team mates to make a pass ran forward toward his oppsomg goal line. After that the concept caught on and spread across other private schools and then to universities. In 1860's the formation of the RUGBY UNION was undertake and then the rules were standardised and issued to those wishing to play the newly developed game
