It's all subjective who the best goalie is. If you want records here they are: Most Shut-Outs by a goalie 103 held by Terry Sawchuk over a 21 season career. Most Games played by a goalie 1029 held by Patrick Roy. Most wins by a goalie held by Patrick Roy. Most minutes played by a goaltender, career: Patrick Roy, 60235 Longest undefeated streak in one season 32 held by Gerry Cheevers. Most consecutive 30 or more wins in one season held by Martin Brodeur. Most consecutive 35 or more wins in one season held by Martin Brodeur. Most consecutive 40 or more wins in one season held by Martin Brodeur. So just from the records you could say that Terry Sawchuk, Patrick Roy, Gerry Cheevers and Martin Brodeur are the all time goalies in the NHL. But if you ask any fan of hockey they will tell you who their favorite goalie is. Like I said, it's all subjective.

The list of the greatest American hockey players of all time would include Mike Modano, Chris Chelios, and Jeremy Roenick for sure but dont forget Brian Leech, Chris Drury, Tony Amonte, and Brett Hull could be considered and American hockey player since he played for team USA. Although he wasnt born in the US. Mike Richter would be one the great US goalies.

Todays greats would have to be Patrick Kane, Zach Parise, Ryan Kesler, Jack Johnson, Ryan Miller, Brian Rafalski, Brian Gionta, Phil Kessel, and Joe Pavelski just to name a few. USA hockey has come a long long way since the good old days!

Wayne Gretzsky is the greatest player in Canada so far, but other people especially the ones who are were playing in the Olympics in 2010 especially Sidney Crosby to score that goal against their second time for the gold medal.The greatest player off all time is Bobby Orr-I have seen them all-Richard, Howe, Hull, Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby and Orr is the best. He changed the game of hockey and the way defenseman play the game. He was the best skater, passer, shooter and he was tougher and fought more than Gretzky ever did. He had many different speeds and could move side to side better than anyone who played the game. All in 9 years only and 1 full season only due to injuries. By the way-you spelled Gretzky's name wrong!!!!I suggest you go to you tube and check out the video entitled "Catch me if you can" Then you will see who the Greatest off all time is!!!
