Through the 2009 NFL draft, four players from Albany State have been drafted AND played in the NFL:
1) DL Mike White - drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 4th round of the 1979 draft. White played for the Bengals between 1979-1980 for the Seahawks between 1981-1982.
2) DE Jeff Hunter - drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals in the 11th round of the 1989 draft. White played between 1990-1994 for the Bills, Lions, Dolphins, and Buccaneers.
3) DB Kenneth Gant - drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 9th round of the 1990 draft. He spent 1990-1994 with the Cowboys and 1995-1997 with the Buccaneers.
4) DB Kevon Nash - drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 6th round of the 2002 draft. He played 2 games for the Raiders in the 2004 season.
There have also been four undrafted players from Albany State that have seen action in the NFL:
1) RB Arthur Green - played 7 games for the New Orleans Saints in 1972.
2) DB Chris Sheffield - played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1986 and the Steelers and Detroit Lions in 1987.
3) WR Steve Carter - was a replacement player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the strike season of 1987.
4) DB Dan Land - played 10 seasons in the NFL, 1987 as a replacement player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 1989-1997 for the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders.
