Schools prefer soccer because soccer is the best sport in the world. Everyone knows that.
While Soccer has quite a big fanbase in America, it is quite clear which is the preferred sport. Football or American Football is the more preferred of two.
In a academy of football
Basketball, football, and soccer.
It's a fair question.
well depending on where one, lived they might prefer football over soccer or soccer over football. If one goes to Spain of course they're going to prefer soccer. Travel to America they might say football. Location, Location my friend.
Football (Soccer)
Football is the official name for soccer. Soccer comes from the Football asssociation. Only in the USA and Canada do they say soccer. The global name for football is of course football. The global name for American football is gridiron. Gridiron is a code of rugby or handball and not football. Football is a sport where players control the ball with their feet and only football does this. Football has more participants in north America and gridiron has more spectators. Mainly because Americans prefer football but struggle with the technicalities and so they do better at gridiron which is a more basic sport.
The Laws of the Game for Soccer (Association football) were written by a man called Ebenezer Morley for and behalf of the fledgling Football Association in England 1863. The game was based on Cambridge rules football playedat Public Schools.
In terms of sports that are played at academies and schools, the most popular are unique to boys and girls. For boys, football and basketball are the two dominate sports in terms of popularity. Girls prefer soccer and softball by a wide margin.
Americans call soccer soccer, and football football!
