The 1927 Duluth Eskimos were the first NFL team to display their logo, an igloo, on their helmets.

The Duluth team originated in 1925 as the NFL's Duluth Kelleys, their sponsor being the Kelley-Duluth Hardware Store. The name was changed to the Eskimos for 1926 and 1927. The franchise did not operate in 1928, and it was transferred to Orange, New Jersey, in 1929, to operate as the Orange Tornadoes. The following year it became the Newark, New Jersey, Tornadoes.

The franchise was idle for the next two years, but was purchased by Preston Marshall, who merged it with the also idle Boston Bulldogs franchise and resurrected it as the Boston Braves in 1932. In 1933 the Boston Braves became the Boston Redskins.

In 1937 the Boston Redskins franchise was moved to Washington DC, where it remains today as the Washington Redskins. ACTUALLY: THE St. Louis Rams OFFENSIVE LINEMAN PAINTED HORNS ON HIS HELMET.THERE IS NO PROOF OF THE INFO ABOVE.

The LA Rams were the first pro team to mark their helmets. They put on curved rams horns so the QB can spot his receiver's down field, a design they've kept to this day.
