Castro, a second-year player for the Cubs, was 21 years and 188 days old when he accomplished the feat. Castro reached the 200-hit mark when he hit a first-inning single in St. Louis off Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter.

Yes ... through the 2012 season, Sam Rice and Paul Molitor are the only two major leaguers who have reached 200+ base hits in a season at the age of 40. Rice had 207 hits for the 1930 Washington Senators and Molitor had 225 hits for the 1996 Minnesota Twins.
