He died in Stuttgart, Germany on January 30, 1951. He had lived and worked in Stuttgart several times over the years from 1923 to 1944, and from 1949 to his death.

Ferdinand Porsche (1875-1951) was an automotive engineer who designed some of the many cars that bore his name, as well Mercedes-Benz roadsters and the German "Volkswagen". He also designed mechanized vehicles used by Germany in both World Wars. He was imprisoned in France for 20 months in 1946 and 1947 but released and acquitted of war crimes.
