Frank Collins played 10-12 years as a running back between the NFL, USFL, and Canadian League from mid 70's to mid 80's. He played for the Steelers twice for a short time. He played prior to the internet, only starters are listed for those years on the internet. He may not have been a starter but made a good career out of playing football. He was drafted out of the University of Utah. I've talked to many former starters from the Steelers, they all seem to know him. He definitely saw playing time and was apparently a really tough short fast back who scored a touchdown or two for the Steelers. He was a local star at Beaver Falls. I've found numerous articles about him in archives from his playing days at the University of Utah, Pittsburgh, Washington, Cincinnati, and Chicago. His nickname was "Frank the Tank".

Here is a list of every Frank that played for the Steelers

Frank Billock (G) 1937 Frank Filchoock (QB) 1938 Frank Souchak (E) 1939 Frank Sullivan (C) 1940 Frank Bykowski (G) 1940 Frank Zopetti (B) 1941 Frank Pastin (G) 1942 Frank Kilroy (T) 1943 Frank Kimble (E) 1945 Frank Sinkovitz (C) 1947-52 Frank Wydo (T) 1947-51 Frank Minni (B) 1949 Frank Varrichione (T) 1955-60 Frank Lambert (K) 1965-66 Frank Lewis (WR) 1971-77 Frank Wilson (TE) 1982 Frank Pollard (RB) 1980-88

There seems to be no Frank Collins. In fact I don't believe there has ever been a player with the last name of Collins that played for the Steelers.
