Consisting of a modified skateboard deck that is modeled to have more of the feel of a snowboard, the Freebord actually has foot bindings in the same way that a snowboard usually would. The Freebord is very useful as a piece of innovative snowboarding equipment is the fact that it has a third wheel on each truck. This makes the rider able to perform carve and slide turns. By doing so, they are able to mimic many of the motions of riding powder, and therefore keep in practice when the sun beats down hard. Of course, neither solution is a perfect replica for actually hitting the slopes in the winter. However, this sort of snowboarding equipment will surely be of use for anyone who has to suffer through a period without real snow.
