I always got into a hand stand mainly by flipping over. I would lean onto my hands or fall onto them and kick up. I would not get into a hand stand from a head and hand stand and push up into a hand stand. No I would not lift all my body weight. Still, I would rest my body weight on my hands. I was never strong enough to do push ups in a hand stand. I can do pull ups in a cross bar.
