Everton began their history as St Domingo's FC on the 1st of January 1878, playing their first match in the south-east corner of Stanley Park.
St Domingo's Church had originally formed a cricket club and added football to their sports-armoury.
The first game after the name was changed to 'Everton Football Club' took place at Stanley Park against St Peter's on 20th December 1879. Everton won 6-0!
