Seattle Slew was not euthanized. He died in his sleep at the age of 28 of the 25th anniversary of his Kentucky Derby win. He was buried in the courtyard at Hill n' Dale Farms near Lexington, Kentucky. Three Chimneys Farm, where he stood at stud, has erected a statue of Slew near the stallion barn in his honor.
