What colleges did Cornell Wilde attend?

Cornell Wilde entered CCNY in September 1933 as a freshman 18 year old with the intention of becoming a pre-med student. He spent one year at the City College fencing on the Varsity team and was one of the three foil fencers to win the Little Iron Man Trophy- an iron statue of a Trojan Warrior carrying a short sword and shield- awarded to the foil team winning the most total bouts in the ECAC conference championships of the Intercollegiate Fencing Association.Mr, Wilde may have left CCNY and attended Colombia in his Junior year of college. In a letter of 1965 he wrote this writer to say that he was graduated from Colombia College but we have no verification of this assertion. Publicly, (except in his letter to me) he never acknowledged his attendance at CCNY claiming only his attendance at Colombia University. Perhaps this was a public relations issue. He did appear in the 1933 and 1934 CCNY Varsity Fencing Team photos both of which hung for many years in the lobby of the Wingate Gymnasium building on the City College campus. I personally saw both photos many times, and it was clearly Cornell Wilde and his name was listed under the photo as "C. Wilde." ('C' for Cornelius- his given name).I submit this info because his official Wikipaedia Bio states only that he attended Colombia College and that he "dropped out" (which year is unstated) to pursue a career as a fencing instructor and actor.Emanuel Fineberg Ph.D- CCNY Class of 1958Former Freshman Fencing CoachCCNY 1960- 66Menber CCNY Athletic Hall of Fame
