Laura Bell Bundy released a statement to CNN saying: "MTV was pretty open about the fact that they wanted this to be their High School Musical. The only reason they didn't put it out on DVD is they can't. We didn't give them the rights, because if you have the DVD, are you really going to come see the show?" Now that the show is no longer on Broadway, there has been great demand for a DVD, but MTV still doesn't have the rights to release one. There is a very slim chance that there will ever be a DVD release by MTV.
