This victory secured Alabama's national title for the 1992 college football season.
The University of Alabama has won the national championship while losing a bowl game on two occasions. These instances occurred in the 1962 season, when Alabama lost to Texas in the Cotton Bowl, and in the 2012 season, when they were defeated by Texas A&M in the BCS National Championship Game. Despite these bowl losses, Alabama was still awarded the national championship title for those respective seasons.
The University of Texas Longhorns have won four national titles in all ('63, '69, '70, '05).
