Research and development of synthetic hormones began in nazi Germany in wwii. The first androgen was testosterone suspension, which is a quick acting water based form of the male sex hormone testosterone.
In terms of usage of hormones/steroids in sports it gained interest in the late to early 60 with bodybuilders.
The muscle repairing ability of steroids was attractive to professional sports athletes around the same time. Steroids have been part of professional sport since the late 60s early 70s, basically soon after they were designed and produced by legitimate us pharmaceutical comps.
Boxing, football, Basketball, Baseball,Track and Field, tennis, its all a part of pro sports, some to a greater degree than others. Halotestin has been a boxing favorite for decades, light weight gain, light muscle gain, heavy increase in aggression.
In examining baseball's use of steroids the muscle building properties is what is so attractive to the user. Maybe the term muscle repairing is more in order here for this sport, many games, many injuries. Yet there is always that user seeking the bigger larger muscle aspect of male hormones to increase overall power- more power more homeruns type of thing.
