He joined Man Utd's youth academy at 14. He had trials with Man Utd over the Christmas period in 1986 (age 13), The following November, on Giggs' 14th birthday, Alex Ferguson turned up at Giggs's house with United scout Joe Brown and offered him two years on associate schoolboy forms.
