It was first presented in 1930 to Uruguay, who won that year's World Cup competition. Rimet stated that whoever won the World Cup three times would keep the trophy. In 1970, Brazil won the World Cup and was awarded the Rimet Cup to keep forever. Unfortunately, the Jules Rimet Cup was stolen in 1983 and never recovered.
