An artist by the name of Sam Ciccone designed the logo while working for the advertising firm Mel Richmann Inc. The logo is a winged 'P' with an orange dot in the center representing a puck. Ciccone also designed the Flyers' jerseys, and the Flyers' logo was voted 6th best NHL logo in a poll administered by the Hockey News.
The Philadelphia Flyers logo was designed by Sam Ciccone of Mel Richmann Inc. in late 1966 for the 1967-68 season. Although the primary logo has varied slightly over the years, such as dulling the black slightly or adding and removing additional outlines, the primary logo remains the same.
Because they felt like it
It is a Flying "P". It shows that Philadelphia is the superior team in Pennsylvania that begins with the letter "P". The logo means that the flyers will soar over the league.
The Philadelphia Flyers wear orange socks. The socks also include black and white in their design and the Flyers' logo about 3 inches above the ankle of the sock.

On April 4, 1966, Putnam announced there would be a name-the-team contest and some names that were suggested were the liberty bells, or the fliers. fliers was sent by a little boy but the citizens of Philly liked it. they changed it to flyers, the dude that drew the logo drew a p for Philadelphia and put wings on it, or speed streaks showing it was flying. the orange circle in the p represents the puck. idk why its orange instead of black and the p couldn't be orange.
