Pierre was an outstanding netball player who played on the highly decorated 1979 T&T netball team that shared the World Championship with Australia and New Zealand. She later became a government sports minister in Trinidad in 1991-95. The man to introduce snow cones and bring snow cone machines to Trinidad was Alfred Galy, son of Elias Galy, one of the first Syrian immigrants to arrive on the shores of Trinidad and Tobago. Alfred Galy was the sole distributor in the Caribbean for these snow cone machines representing a company called Gold Medal.
