Nijinsky's was the best male dancer in the world he was magical , he was an inspiration, he had all the ingrediaents of being a god. He made dance look easy and I think people got the impression Ballet was easy a myth still today. male dancers are heavy guys and fling themselves into the air with grace and passion. I personally love ballet but I know alot of guys who like the more macho dancing and spanish capoiera. I think Nijinsky probably struggled with stereo types of male ballet dancers being gay ? Also he probably had to get people interested in going to shows as box office was slow. So I remember when the scandel of him playing the fawn broke and he was supposed to have got an erection in his tights due to the sensuousness and erotic dancing of his co star. he was in the role and he transformed into the character. I believe he probaly did and was consumed by the role but it did increase box office numbers due to the scandle. I f only we were aloowed such rare indulgencies, I guess they then didn't think he was gay? He was a beautiful man.
