The teams that made up the NFL in 1960 were the Eagles, Browns, Giants, Cardinals (then in St. Louis), Steelers, Redskins, Packers, Lions, 49ers, Colts (then in Baltimore), Bears, Rams (then in Los Angeles), and Cowboys. This was also the year the American Football League began play. The AFL in 1960 consisted of the Raiders, Jets (then the New York Titans), Chargers (then in Los Angeles), Patriots (then the Boston Patriots), Bills, Chiefs (then the Dallas Texans), Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans), and Broncos. Those teams would join the NFL when the AFL and NFL merged in 1970.
