Super Bowl XLIX, in which the New England Patriots outlasted the Seattle Seahawks, 28-24, was the most-watched American television show in history. The A.C. Nielsen Co. reported that the February 1, 2015 telecast by NBC Sports -- from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona -- averaged 114.4 million viewers. That surpassed the previous record of 112.4 million set in 2014 by Super Bowl XLVIII, in which the Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos, 43-8.
