For years, the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day opponent pretty much depended on which network televised the game. FOX, the network of the National Football Conference, and CBS, which focuses on American Football Conference games, usually have alternated their November holiday schedules every year. The same formula also was true for the early Thanksgiving Day game hosted by the Detroit Lions. If FOX televised the early game, then CBS got the late afternoon game in Dallas. But things have loosened up a bit. In 2015, all network games played on Thanksgiving featured NFC teams. FOX televised the Philadelphia Eagles-Detroit game. CBS did the Carolina Panthers-Dallas game. And NBC televised an evening contest between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers.
