Many long board riders state that they prefer the drop through cruiser design. It is flexible and works well for those that are intermediate or advanced users. Beginners should stick to a straight, firm long board.

It depends on if you're strictly using your board to get around, or if you prefer to do tricks and the like. Although there are certain tricks that can be performed on a longboard, longboards are typically used for transportation and "Cruising".Cruiser Boards are usually Shortboards or "Shlongboards" that can be used for both cruising and street-tricks.Longboards are, well, longer, which allow the board to travel for a longer amount of time. If cruising is your main objective, then I would highly suggest a longboard.Go skate, and see what you like best.
z-flex, santa cruz, etc...? make sure you get a longer board cause the smaller board you get the more speed wobbles you'll have, which you dont want for bombing hills.
If you are against the change, write a letter to the zoning board why you don't feel the exception should be granted. And the more people in the neighborhood that feels that way, the more the zoning board is likely to listen. You can also attend the meeting and voice your opinion to the board in person.
