∙ 7y agoMike Ditka, Gary Kubiak and Ron Rivera have accomplished the feat.
Mike Ditka caught a touchdown pass in Super Bowl VI with the Dallas Cowboys and served as as assistant to Cowboys head coach Tom Landry in Super Bowls X, XII and XIII. On January 26, 1986, he was the victorious head coach of the Chicago Bears in their Super Bowl XX victory over the New England Patriots.
As a member of the Denver Broncos from 1983 to 1991, Gary Kubiak was quarterback John Elway's backup in Super Bowls XXI, XXII and XXIV -- all losses (Kubiak relieved Elway in XXI and XXIV). But he won Super Bowl rings as the quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers (Super Bowl XXIX) and as the offensive coordinator and QBs coach for the Denver Broncos (Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII). As the head coach of the Broncos during the 2015-2016 season, Kubiak guided Denver to a berth in Super Bowl 50.
Rivera was a linebacker for the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XX. He later served as the Bears' defensive coordinator in Super Bowl XLI, a loss to the Indianapolis Colts. As head coach of the Carolina Panthers during the 2015-2016 season, Rivera's found success and will represent the NFC in Super Bowl 50.
Technically, Tom Flores, who was the backup quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl IV, belongs on this list. But he did not play in the game. Flores went on to win other Super Bowl rings with the Oakland-Los Angeles Raiders as an assistant coach (Super Bowl XI) and head coach (Super Bowls XV and XVIII).
Flores and Ditka are the only people who have won Super Bowl titles as players, assistant coaches and head coaches.
