The first NFL team in California were the Los Angeles Buccaneers.

The LA Buccaneers played for a single season in 1926. They finished with a 6-3-1 record. They were coached by Brick Muller and Tut Imlay. The team had originally planned to play their games at the LA Coliseum, but were denied access to the facilities. The squad then became what was known as a travelling squad, playing all their games on the road.

Despite this, the Bucs did play two exhibition games in Los Angeles, both versus the New York Yankees (Not the Baseball Club!) in January of 1927. Due to these games, the NFL considers the Buccaneers to be the first franchise to represent the City of Los Angeles and the Rebublic of California.
