there is no *best* type. It is up to the individual to make their own opinion about that.
If you are looking at the type for the best, or easiest breeding, I would say arabians. They are very easy to breed, and have been used to make improvements to lots of other breeds.
Their speciallity in skills rather depends on how they are bred and brought up.
If the owner wants their horse to specialise in a certain genre of sports, they can do so.
Most thoroughbred producers on Howrse make their horses' main skill on stamina.

They are best at Western then Classical
Just frequently enter your best trained horses in to the competitions that they are best at.
train your horse and get bonuses for him/her...horses with good gp are best =D

Red Rum was a thoroughbred gelding, and was supposedly one of the best horses in the history of horse racing.
Well im not sure but the top ten elite are mostly Freisian horses.
Arabians are known for their success in endurance riding, and occasionally as race horses (Arab racing, not thoroughbred racing). Disciplines to avoid are hunters (hunter judges don't like Arab horses in the ring)
Arabians and Quarter horses. But any horse can be trained to be good at cross county.
That depends on the breeds and GP of both horses. The best results are always gained from breeding two 100 BLUP horses.
Arabian horses have the best stamina. They are ancestors of thoroughbred horses. The 3 most famous Arabians are, the Darley Arabian, the Goldophin Barb and the Beyrley* Turk. Hope it helps=).
