Maybe you should make sure to include your qualities as a leader AND a cheerleader, that will definitely help.

That would definatley be good. Also, you should include why you being captain would be good for the whole team, not just you. Don't make it long and boring so you lose people. Add humor and talk about things that concern the majority of the people, and what you can do to fix them. Good luck!
