There's no doubt that Gettysburg College has no better Baseball representative than pitcher Eddie Plank. He was a left hander with a wicked cross fire side armed delivery. He began his career late, aged 25, with Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics. He was a major player in the A's six A. L. pennants from 1901 to 1914. After Eddie's retirement, Connie Mack cited him in the Sporting News as the smartest pitcher he ever had. Through 1997 here are the statistics for Eddie Plank with the storied A's:
*Wins- 1st - 284;
*Losses - 1st - 162;
*Innings -1st - 3,860;
*ERA - 3rd - 2.29;
*Strikeouts- 1st - 1,893;
*Walks- 1st - 913;
*Games - 2nd - 524; and
*Shutouts - 59.
The number of shutouts, ERA. and Innings are outstanding.
For the Athletics franchise he surely is a stand out pitcher.

I would guess five dollars
how much is a pack of rare 'baseball's All-Time greats' collecting baseball cards all formatted in a green backdrop, with the playing years from; 1900-1977, worth?
